Invisible Fences
by Norman Prentiss
Surprise In-Stock Trade Paperback For Just $14!

Hi Folks!

Invisible FencesIn case you missed the news over the holidays, we’re very pleased to report that Invisible Fences by Norman Prentiss is available as an afforable trade paperback and copies are shipping from our warehouse now!

About the Book:
Do you see the point of the story, Nathan? We all cut parts of ourselves away, but we never lose them. Things stay with us—souvenirs with memories attached. We can’t always choose what to keep, what to throw away.

Nathan’s parents devised cautionary tales for him and his sister—gruesome stories about predatory cars racing along the “Big Street” at one end of their neighborhood, or dope fiends lurking in the woods behind their house and ready to plunge hypodermics into the skin of foolish young trespassers. These stories served their purpose during Nathan’s gullible childhood, essentially constructing an invisible fence around the yard and keeping the boy close to home where he’d be safe.

Such barriers are not so easy to discard in later life. As an adult, Nathan no longer believes his parents’ stories, and yet they still confine him. He lives cautiously, avoiding serious relationships, avoiding risk. But despite his efforts, something from his parents’ cautionary tales threatens to creep beneath that invisible border…and the enclosed yard might not be as safe and secure as it always seemed…

I Tell You It’s Love by Joe R. Lansdale, Adapted and illustrated by Daniele Serra!

I Tell You It’s Love by Joe R. Lansdale
Adapted and illustrated by Daniele Serra

Hardcover From the UK Coming Soon!

Hi Folks!

I Tell You It's LoveWe’re pleased to report that we’ll be getting a limited supply of I Tell You It’s Love by Joe R. Lansdale, adapted and illustrated by Daniele Serra from SST Publications in the UK!

About the Book:
Dark moments seem like sweetness and light to lovers who dance to the beat of a dying heart. Ugly is beauty to them, horror is their laughter, and souls, dark or bright need not apply.

Praise and Reviews:
“Joe Lansdale’s stories have a dark, terrible beauty to them. Daniele Serra captures the genuine dread and horror of the original story and paints it into something that’s closer to the true texture of a nightmare than anything I’ve read in a very long time.” — Christopher Golden

“I Tell You It’s Love is a gloriously twisted, incredibly dark love story by the great Joe R. Lansdale, brought to vivid life by Daniele Serra’s brilliant artwork. You won’t be able to turn away—much as you might sometimes wish you could. This is a romance like none you’ve ever seen.” — Jeffrey J. Mariotte

“I have always been a fan of Joe Lansdale and coupled with the wonderfully eerie and evocative artwork of Daniele Serra this book is a must-have.” — George Pratt

“Lansdale’s proto-splatterpunk romance retold with art as beautifully barbed as the narrative. It penetrates deep, like a meat hook in your flesh.” — Jovanka Vuckovic

The Rockabye Worm by Glenn Chadbourne Hardcover From the UK Coming Soon!

The Rockabye Worm by Glenn Chadbourne
Hardcover From the UK Coming Soon!

“A twisted little ditty. Only Glenn Chadbourne could give us something simultaneously this adorable and this grotesque. Chadbourne’s art is a balm for the horror fiend’s soul. He shows a master’s eye for detail and a jester’s sense of mischief. Instead of illustrating someone else’s stories, he’s stepped up and created his own at last, and it’s playfully grim madness. All I can say is, I want more.”
— Christopher Golden, New York Times bestselling author of Snowblind

Hi Folks!

We’re pleased to report that we’ll be getting a limited supply of The Rockabye Worm: A Boneyard Fable by Glenn Chadbourne from Short, Scary Tales Publications in the UK!

The Rockabye Worm first came into being as song lyrics Glenn Chadbourne wrote a few years ago. Over the years he and some friends decided to cope with the harsh Maine winters by forming a silly little rock band called Nick Noxious and the Necrophiliacs. Glenn was a great lover of punk music back in the late ’70s and ’80s so all the tunes lent themselves to that flavor. He thought about a host of creepy kid’s rhymes and poems about worms playing piknuckle in your snout, etc., and then his tune about “The Rockabye Worm” was born. He thought it might make for an amusing illustrated story so he set to work. Glenn uses his trademark pen and ink drawings to create a fun little snack with a creepy-fun sort of atmosphere for those a bit bent, such as himself, and who like their gallows humor.

Norman Prentiss Hired As Editor For Cemetery Dance Publications eBook Line!

Norman PrentissCemetery Dance Publications is very pleased to announce that Bram Stoker award winning author Norman Prentiss has been hired as Editor of the Cemetery Dance eBook line to oversee the relaunch of the line as a major part of our business in 2015. The hardcovers and the magazine aren’t going away, but we’ve already published more than 100 eBooks in the last few years and we want to take advantage of the digital landscape to promote Cemetery Dance Publications and our authors to a new generation of horror readers.

Norman’s been working with us since 2005 when he started as a proofreader, then later moved on to an Assistant Editor position reading story submissions to the magazine in 2006; his magazine stint as Associate Editor, Non-Fiction, started with issue 61, shifting later to Associate Editor, Fiction. Other work has included copyediting for some of his favorite authors in the CD book line.

Norman’s fiction has appeared in Postscripts, Black Static, Dark Fusions, All-American Horror of the 21st Century, Blood Lite 3, Best Horror of the Year, The Year’s Best Dark Fantasy and Horror, and elsewhere. He’s proud to have several publications under the CD banner, including his first book, Invisible Fences, in the Cemetery Dance Novella Series (winner of a 2010 Bram Stoker Award in the Long Fiction Category); Four Legs in the Morning in the Cemetery Dance Signature Series, and stories in CD anthologies and chapbooks, including four appearances in the acclaimed Shivers series.

Norman recently stepped down from his magazine duties to concentrate on a newly created position as Editor for the Cemetery Dance eBook line. He’ll be working with Brian James Freeman, Richard Chizmar, Kate Freeman, Mindy Jarusek, and Dan Hocker to help manage the CD eBooks currently available, and will help acquire and edit new titles—including a new series of books that will be announced shortly.

REVIEWS & PRAISE:
“This is a solid collection of quick reads, a nice selection of appetizers that represent the horror genre and many of its incarnations well.”
— Blu Gilliand, October Country

“These tales are well written, fun to read, and a great way to kill a winter afternoon. Recommended for fans of short story collections and dark fiction!”
— Horror After Dark

Dark Screams isn’t published by Cemetery Dance, but with the editors of Cemetery Dance at the helm, it’s going to be a solid series. It certainly helped me pass a few hours in enjoyment.”
— Adventures Fantastic

“If Volume 1 is any indication of quality, I’m all in for the rest of the series.”
— Not Too Terrible

“I thoroughly enjoyed Dark Screams and look forward to future publications.”
— The Dragon’s Roost

“It’s a really good (short) collection. It’s only got five stories, but they’re all from fairly well known authors, and they’re all good… This is a really good anthology, and since it’s only available in ebook form, it’s cheap, too.”
— Yoyogod’s Reviews of Books and Stuff I Like

“…volume one hooked me well enough that I’m anticipating the next four installments, and thus I would still recommend picking up Dark Screams. It’s only three bucks after all, and the entries from King, Campbell and Pronzini are worth the price of admission alone.”

Four New Books In 2015 For Richard Chizmar

Richard Chizmar, best known as the founder of Cemetery Dance Publications and screenwriter for Showtime’s Masters of Horror, NBC’s Fear Itself, and several Stephen King and Ed Gorman adaptations, will be making headlines of a different sort in 2015 — as the author of four brand new books.

Richard ChizmarSubterranean Press, an award-winning publishing house based in Michigan, will release Chizmar’s latest collection of short fiction, A Long December, in mid-2015. Containing 30 stories, including the title novella, A Long December will also feature extensive story notes from the author and an introduction from a surprise contributor.

“I’ve known Rich Chizmar since before there was a Subterranean Press,” says Subterranean Press publisher William K. Schafer, “We’ve published chapbooks by him here and there, through the years. Now, with A Long December, I’m proud to showcase his distinct, heartfelt stories as a larger part of our book line.”

Chizmar’s last collection, Midnight Promises, was nominated for the World Fantasy Award.

SST Publications, headquartered in Birmingham, UK, will be publishing three additional Chizmar titles in 2015: an original novella, a novelette co-authored with legendary crime author Ed Gorman, and a limited edition chapbook co-written with actor/director/writer Johnathon Schaech (That Thing You Do, Ray Donavon).

SST publisher Paul Fry says: “I’m so excited to have signed a three book deal with Richard Chizmar. I’ve been a long-time fan of Cemetery Dance and Chizmar is an incredible writer. His stories have a dark, quiet, and subtle beauty to them. I’m thrilled to be able to publish his fantastic work.”

Chizmar adds: “Both Subterranean Press and SST Publications are first-rate publishers, and I’m lucky to have signed with them. After years of focusing on Cemetery Dance and editorial work, it’s been a real pleasure to return to my own stories. Hopefully, readers will embrace the work and there will be lots more to come!”
