Chupacabra feeding on a goat. Chupacabra is a mythical animal alleged to inhabit parts of the Americas. Anecdotal reports claim that Chupacabra is a bear sized creature with leathery skin and a row of large spines along its back. It is said to attack livestock and drink their blood. Recent reports suggest that coyotes suffering from parasitic infection and scabies could account for the legend of the Chupacabra. The study of mythical animals that are alleged to still exist is known as cryptozoology and the animals studied are known as cryptids. Other well known cryptids include the Loch Ness monster and the Yeti.
