Doesn’t this cover just call to you? In this book we meet Mina who is still grieving the death of her brother. In a bereavement group, she meets Sam, a journalist, who thinks she should investigate Alice Webber. Alice is a teen who says she is being haunted by a witch. As her behavior becomes more and more disturbing, they delve into the town’s history and evil traditions. Exploring grief, loss and faith, this book also explores whether or not supernatural things are actually real or just a reflection of our own human darkness. This is a great read for those who love folk horror mixed with cults, curses and of course, witchcraft.

Certainly there are moments that are truly creepy and unsettling – both things I absolutely love in my books. I do think the pacing gets a little slow and some things jumped the shark a bit.  I’m also a bit blasé about ambiguous endings, which didn’t quite work for me in this read. But that’s just a personal preference and has worked for me in other reads. Nevertheless, I love the uniqueness and atmospheric vibe of the whole story.  I’ve certainly always wondered if someone(s) or something(s) live in the walls. Sometimes I creep myself out imagining what could lurk in the shadows.  If Big Brother isn’t watching us, surely something else…. Is….
